Amber is a fossilized resin that is millions of years old. Our pieces of Amber come from the Baltic, were formed already in the Miocene period and are approximately 23-24 million years old. It can also contain small pieces of carcasses or other animals, which makes the stone even more special. 

This particular petrified resin comes in a variety of colors and varies in purity — from white, light yellow, all the way to black. 

Amber was already valued in the Neolithic period. 13,000 years ago it was used in jewelry, as an amulet that brings good luck. In ancient Greece, Amber was celebrated as a medicine. Roman gladiators wore amber during fights because they believed it would bring them good luck. In ancient China, however, it was burned and melted during major celebrations, as it gave off a pleasant smell when burned.
